The type setting system LaTeX (online)
courseFurtherInformation
LaTeX is a very powerful system for setting scientific documents. It enables authors to focus on contents, rather than on formatting issues. When writing your document, you assign your text elements a structure (like »important text«, »This is a cite« etc.). LaTeX takes care about the correct layout.
There are different steps to prepare a good LaTeX document. You will need to know about the commands to structure your text and about specific packages you may need. The workshop shows you how to create a scientific document from the text to automatic creation of the table of contents or list of figures. It will introduce special uses for different academic disciplines, like Chicago style citations, mathematical text or also chemical symbols.
This course will take place as an online video-based course. So please make sure that you have a working microphone and speakers. Furthermore we need to work with LaTeX. So a pre-existing LaTeX installation is recommended. You should at least be able to install software on your computer and have experience with installing software.
dates: May 22 AND 29, 2020, first day: 9.oo am. - 5.oo p.m.; second day: 9.oo a.m. - 12.oo a.m.
