Coursedescription:
The Crash Course “Teaching in Higher Education for Internationals” aims to provide international lecturers at the beginning of their teaching career with an introduction into the basics of (German) academic teaching. You will get insights into some fundamentals of learning and teaching and how to support your students to learn more effectively. You will hear about the purpose of learning goals and, based on this, we will work on strategies to plan and conduct your courses and sessions. We also reflect on appropriate teaching methods and how we can activate students in the classroom. You will understand the importance of your specific role as a teacher in higher education. In this context, we will also develop strategies on how to deal with classroom conflicts and other difficult situations around teaching. In the workshop, there will also be room for an exchange of experiences and your individual questions.
Note:
The course is aimed primarily at English-speaking lecturers with an international background, both with and without initial teaching experience. We kindly ask German-speaking participants to preferentially enroll in our German-language crash or basic certificate courses.
