LaTeX is a very powerful system for setting scientific documents. It enables authors to focus on contents, rather than on formatting issues.When writing your document, you assign your text elements a struture (like »important text«, »This is a cite« etc.). LaTeX takes care about the correct layout.

There are diff erent steps to prepare a good LaTeX document. You will need to know about the commands to structure your text and about specific packages you may need. The workshop shows you how to create a scientific document from the text to automatic creation of the table of contents or list of figures. It will introduce special uses for diff erent academic disciplines, like Chicago style citations, mathematical text or also chemical symbols.
