This three-day online-course on basics in processing and analysis of digital images according to high scientific standards covers:
- Digital Images, Metadata and Bit-Depth
- Correct Image Adjustments, Histogram Usage
- Diverse Background Subtraction and Lighting Correction Methods
- Scaling Images and the Scale Bar
- Guide for Figure Preparation Prerequisites
- Basic Linear and Non-Linear Image Filters
- Image Segmentation - Extracting Data by Intensity Thresholds
- Binary Post-Processing Methods
- 2D Analysis - Automatic Counting and Measurements of Objects
- Basics in Macro Recording for Analysis Automation
The workshop has a focus on life science applications and microscopic images. However, the methods taught are held general to be widely applicable to different imaging material. We will use the professional software ImageJ / Fiji for processing and analysis. Prior knowledge of the software is not required.
What you will need for the workshop:
- One computer / laptop,
- Minimally one big screen (even better would be 2 screens (can also be a television) or a second device such as tablet etc. for better working experience since you need to follow the webinar and work in parallel)
- A stable internet connection.
- A computer mouse
Software installation instructions and webinar access information will be communicated to registered participants prior to the workshop.
