Course further information

A German scholarship is an attractive way for (aspiring) PhD candidates to fund their project. The advantages of a scholarship can include: belonging to a prestigious organization, networking, having international research paid for, exclusive events and seminars, and more freedom due to financial independence from your supervisor.

Nonetheless, knowing if a scholarship is right for you can be a daunting task. Deciding where to apply, knowing how much time and effort to invest, or mastering all application documents can prove challenging.

In this workshop, we aim to
  • give you a general idea of scholarship institutions in Germany,
  • aide you in deciding which ones suit you best,
  • go over what the application process entails,
  • work out personal application strategies and
  • develop a realistic timeline and work plan for the application.

Please note:
This workshop is designed for students preparing for a doctorate as well as PhD candidates in an early stage of their doctorate. It is suited both for national and international students.
