In this Data Carpentry Workshop we will teach foundational skills for processing research data. During four half-days (9:00 till 13:00) we will cover how to work with spreadsheets, how to query databases with SQL, and how to analyse data with the programming language R.

The course language is English.

Requirements

During the course you will type along, following the instructors, preferably on your own machine. Please reach out to us if you need help with installing the required software. You need LibreOffice (https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/), OpenRefine (http://openrefine.org/download.html), R (https://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/release.htm), RStudio (https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download) and SQLite Browser (http://sqlitebrowser.org/dl/). Detailed instruction for installing these programs can be found in the descriptions of the individual courses. If necessary, you can also use the on-site computers, which will have the required software preinstalled.

No special previous knowledge is required for the course. You should only be familiar with basic concepts of file systems: files and folders.
