Complex research projects offer special challenges for the project manager or coordinator. On the one hand, this includes a deeper understanding of the essential instruments of classic project management that are used in the implementation of collaborative research projects. On the other hand, the successful implementation of the project as an "equal among equals" requires leading one's own team and the project partners, successfully integrating stakeholders and solving conflicts constructively and sustainably.
This workshop will enable participants to
- refresh and deepen their knowledge of project management methods,
- exchange experiences,
- deepen the methodology for clarifying tasks and goals for organising project work,
- assess barriers and risks and identify promotors for overcoming the barriers,
- understand the concept of stakeholder management and translate it into requirements for the project manager/coordinator,
- understand the approach of the dual way of conflict resolution,
- and complement successful project implementation with appropriate monitoring and controlling.
Dr Sabine Preusse holds a PhD in astrophysics. She worked as a project manager for european research and development projects and started her own business in 2011, in which she accompanies scientists and research groups as a trainer, coach and consultant. In her approach to project management, she transfers classic and agile project management tools to the context of research projects.
