This three-day online-course on basics in processing and analysis of digital images according to high scientific standards covers:

• Digital Images, Metadata and Bit-Depth
• Correct Image Adjustments, Histogram Usage
• Diverse Background Subtraction and Lighting Correction Methods
• Scaling Images and the Scale Bar
• Guide for Figure Preparation Prerequisites
• Basic Linear and Non-Linear Image Filters
• Image Segmentation - Extracting Data by Intensity Thresholds
• Binary Post-Processing Methods
• 2D Analysis - Automatic Counting and Measurements of Objects
• Basics in Macro Recording
   

The workshop has a focus on life science applications and microscopic images. We will use the professional software ImageJ / Fiji for processing and analysis. Prior knowledge of the software is not required.

To participate you will need:

• One computer / laptop,
• Minimally one big screen (even better would be 2 screens (can also be a television) or a second device such as tablet etc. for better working experience since you need to follow the webinar and work in parallel)
• A stable internet connection.
• A computer mouse

Software installation instructions and webinar access information will be communicated to registered participants prior to the workshop.
