This introductory R course is aimed at beginners who have little or no experience with the R programming language.

Participants will learn the basics of R syntax, data structures and control structures, and how to read and write data in R. In addition, participants will be able to choose an advanced example to study in more detail during the course. By the end of the course, students should have a solid foundation in R programming and be able to write simple scripts to manipulate and analyze data.

Requirements

No prior knowledge of (statistical) programming is required for this course.

During the course you will type along, following the instructors, preferably on your own machine. For this you need a working installation of R as well as RStudio. Downloads and installation instructions for various operating systems can be found here. If necessary, you can use computers provided at the workshop location, where all needed software is already installed. However working in your usual environment is preferred.
